Reminder: Our School Christmas Concert is Tuesday December 17 at 1:15 and 5:15. Tickets are required (free of charge) to reserve seating. Our dress rehearsal is Monday afternoon and family is welcome to attend this as well (no ticket needed- please keep in mind it is a rehearsal though)
Our class is performing 3 songs with the choir and a blizzard song with our buddy class titled Sea of Snow. The whole school will also come back at the end for a finale number. We have asked our grade two children to wear red or green solid tops with scarf, mittens and a toque. If you’re able to send this in for Monday that would be great. We will be having them rehearse in their winter gear next week.
Wednesday December 18th our class will be having a special Christmas day. We will be making Gingerbread Santa Sleighs with graham wafers.
I am asking all students to bring a bag of candy to share for this project. Please send it in no later than Friday Dec. 16. I will need the candy early as I plan to divide it up over the weekend for the kids. They will all have a good mixture this way.
This project is very expensive and so I'm also asking families to sign up to bring other supplies. We will need:
two full size candy canes per child (5 boxes of 12)
24 small chocolate Santas
Red rope licorice (Santa’s reins)
145 Hershey kisses (represents Santa’s reindeer)
Oval Styrofoam trays for each child to build their projects on
Plastic knives to spread icing
Extra large clear gift bags- (Dollar Store has these- to wrap them in when students take them home)
I will be supplying the royal icing and graham wafers. Please sign up to bring something or send me a note in the agenda and I can write your name down. I will post a list on Monday Dec.9th I would also love to have a couple of parent helpers on this day to help us with this project. Thank you in advance for your support. We are looking forward to this event!
Thursday Thursday Dec.19 is our Choir performance at Overlander Extended Care- We will be singing for their Christmas Party. Please see the recent notice that I sent along with the permissionslip regarding this performance. I would be happy to have a couple of parents walk there with us on this afternoon. We will be leaving at 1 pm and arrive back at the school by 2:30. Please let me know if you’d like to come!
Friday December 20- Pajama/Board Games Day- We will be having a ‘Christmasy relaxing’ day. It will be a clean up time of our lockers and desks. We will play some board games and do some Christmas learning. I have told the children they can bring a stuffy or a pillow this day too (only one please!) If your child has a game they enjoy playing that they are allowed to bring to school, I will also give them time to play their game with others in the class. During the afternoon we will be able to share some treats and watch a little Christmas story. It will be a wonderful celebration day!
Finally I think that is all. I want to wish you and your family a wonderful Christmas holiday break. You have beautiful children and I thoroughly enjoy teaching them each day. They are all enthusiastic, kind, caring and hard workers. You should be proud of the children you have! Enjoy this time and savour each moment with them, they grow up so quickly!
All the Best! Happy Holidays!
