Last week we were able to learn from Constable Lisa MacKenzie about Stranger Danger. She came in to talk to our grade twos about safety in our community and safety on computers. The students learned a lot from her presentation and had many valuable questions about her role in our community.
This week we will continue to learn about Multiplication in Math. Students are not expected to memorize times tables at this stage. They are learning that multiplication simply means 'groups of.' Students are learning that multiplication is the same as repeated addition and they are learning to skip count to find some answers. We are using a lot of manipulatives and drawings right now. Any extra support you are able to provide at home, makes a huge difference in your child's confidence at school. Thanks in advance for that.
We will continue our timed math quizzes this week as we look at equations for +3. Flashcards will again be coming home on Monday. Please continue to practice these each night with your child as we want to improve students' speed of recall with basic facts.
