We will be seeing a performer titled Rup Loops. It's a musical and inter-active show that uses vocal percussion, rhythmic rhymes and eclectic instruments. He is a gifted educator and performer that has a deep passion for intercultural work and intercultural sounds. He is hoping students will gain an understanding and appreciation of our universal language, music. This should be a great show!
Last Week: We had a wonderful week learning about Peace and all about Remembrance Day. Students were very respectful and quite interested in learning about the war times. Fridays assembly was the peak as students performed beautifully in the choir and had made a lovely wreathe to represent our class. I was very pleased at how respectful our class was especially during the minute of silence.
This Week in Our Class: We will be slowly wrapping up our Owls unit. This week we will be doing a lot of reading through drama as students will be making puppets and working on mini Owl Tale plays. Grade two's love drama- this will make our reading come alive. We will be talking about reading with expression this week.
This week I will also begin testing student's reading as report card time is coming soon :)
Phonics- I will be teaching our students "the two vowels go walking, the first one does the talking and says its own name" rule. (i.e. rain, green, stream, moan etc)
Math: We will be continuing to learn about place value. Students are learning the value of digits in a number. (i.e. 324- the 2 means 2 tens which is = 20) This will also assist us when we come back to double digit addition and subtraction with regrouping)
